Crew

The NSRI draws its members from the local community. Previous nautical experience is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.

These individuals volunteer their time and effort to.... Save lives at Sea!

Training is given in search and rescue, seamanship, firefighting, navigation, lifesaving, radio operation and first aid to level 3. Advanced paramedical training is encouraged.

The crews spend many hours of their own time, away from their families, training to the high standards required by the NSRI.

Station 10 has three crews, A, B and C crews, so the crews are on call, 24 hours a day one week in three.

Below is a recent picture of some of the crew. In the background, the False Bay Yacht Club.
